Dr.-Ing. Peter Knödel
Peter Knödel, born 1954 in Vienna, Austria, studied civil engineering at the Universities of Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, were he obtained his Dr.-Ing. in 1994. From 1995 to 2002 he worked for different steel-construction companies as senior engineer, where he focussed on the design of steel chimneys as well as steel and composite industrial buildings. Since 2002 up to date he runs his own design office. He is specialised on structural analysis, stability, dynamics and fatigue for all kind of metal structures in the field of structural, mechanical and vehicle construction. In 2007 he was appointed Professor of Steel Structures (part time) at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. From 2013 to 2019 he was Associate Professor (part time) at KIT Steel and Lightweight Structures, being head of the Tanks, Silos and Bridges group as well as head of the Joining and Welding, Production Control, NDT group. In 2015 he was awarded the status of a KIT Associate Fellow.
