Prof. Dr.-Ing Thomas Ummenhofer
Professor Dr.-Ing. Thomas Ummenhofer graduated in civil engineering from the University of Karlsruhe (TH) in 1990. He received his doctorate in 1996. From 2003 to 2009, he was full professor and head of the Institute for Structural Maintenance and Supporting Structures at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Since 2009, he has been full professor for steel and lightweight construction at KIT and head of the Experimental Institute for Steel, Wood and Stone. In addition, he is convenor of Working Group 8, which is responsible for Eurocode 3 Parts 1-8, and chairman of ECCS TC10, and served as chairman for the ISO regulations for hollow section structures from 2015 to 2020. Furthermore, he is a member of various expert committees of the German Institute for Structural Engineering as well as national and international standards committees.
