Thomas Nitschke-Pagel, born in 1958, completed his studies in general mechanical engineering at the Comprehensive University of Kassel/Germany. From 1987 to 1991, he worked as a scientific employee at the Materials Technology Institute at the University/ Comprehensive University of Kassel. Since 1992, he has been a scientific employee at the Welding Institute at the Technical University of Bruns - wick where he is the head of the "strength and component behaviour" and "arc welding" departments. He received his PhD at the Welding Institute in 1994.
