Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Böhme
Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Böhme, born in 1951, studied physics at the University of Karlsruhe/Germany and obtained his degree in 1977. He has been a scientific employee at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Mechanics (IWM) in Freiburg/Germany since 1978. He obtained his doctorate at TU Darmstadt in 1985. As the team leader for "crash dynamics" at Fraunhofer IWM, he is responsible for investigations into the material and component behaviour at high loading rates for crash safety assessments and fracture-dynamic questions in the field of installation safety. He collaborates in various bodies of ISO, DIN and VDEh for the elaboration of guidelines for material characterisation with impact-like and crash-like loading.
