M. Sc. Ammar Ahsan

MSc. Ing. Ammar Ahsan was born in 1990 in Karachi/Pakistan. After finishing school in 2008 he completed a vocational training as a machinist before graduating with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with specialization in metallurgy from the NED University of Technology, Karachi. After working for a year in the steel sector, he moved to Germany in 2013 and finished his masters degree in manufacturing technology from Technical University of Dortmund in 2016. He then spent a year in the industry as CAM programmer for a tool and die manufacturer before joining the Department of Cutting and Joining Technology (tff), Institute for Production and Logistics (IPL) at the University of Kassel in 2017. His research interests lie in the field of cutting tool development, machining of brittle materials, laser surface structuring and brazing / welding of cutting tool materials.
