Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gerson Meschut

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gerson Meschut has been head of the Laboratory for Materials and Joining Technology (LWF) at the University of Paderborn since September 2011. After graduating in mechanical engineering from the University of Paderborn in 1994 and working as a research assistant and senior engineer at the LWF, he received his doctorate with distinction in 1998. At the beginning of 2000, he moved to Group Research at Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg, where he was responsible for optimizing existing joining systems and developing new ones for innovative lightweight construction concepts. Before accepting his appointment at the University of Paderborn, he was technical managing director of the Bielefeld-based Wilhelm Böllhoff GmbH & Co. KG. In Paderborn, his focus is on the development of material-specific joining techniques, especially for hybrid materials and mixed construction methods.
