TIG welding without tempering colours: Using all the possibilities
In the household appliance industry,
high-grade steel (high-alloyed chrome-nickel
steels) is mostly utilised as a design element
in the visible area. In this respect,
minute scratches, dents and discolour ations
are often already a reason to reject parts. As
a result of the design, welds are ever more
frequently located in the visible area and entail
the risk of tempering colours. However,
the subsequent machining of the welds is
often too time-consuming and too expensive,
particularly in the case of larger components,
and leads to non-uniform surfaces
in most cases. Therefore, it is indispensable
to avoid tempering colours here.
