The fundamentals of low-temperature silver brazing - Part 5: Induction and resistance heating
Experience shows that flame–brazing is
the preferred heating method for about 80%
of all production brazing operations (see Part
4). There are two other popular heating processes,
and these are induction and resistance.
It is reasonable to describe these as the ‘electrical’
heating methods, and they are use to
produce three quarters of the remaining 20%.
Both of these heating methods are characterised
by the benefit of closely localised heating
of the joint area. Both will produce excellent
results providing their use is restricted to those
cases where their technical characteristics can
be used to maximum effect. Despite the relative
efficiency of both processes, their fields
of application are not as universal as those
enjoyed by flame heating.
