Thin silver coatings can be utilised in numerous applications.
As a rule, standard procedures for manufacturing
such silver coatings are electroplating processes
which, subject to corresponding prerequisites,
supply very good results with regard to economic and
technological aspects. However, there are application
fields and component-specific framework conditions
which make it considerably more difficult or
even impossible to apply an electroplated coating as
far as the technology or the economic viability is concerned.
Particularly in these areas, a thin, thermally
sprayed silver coating may offer advantages. The
development and sampling of suspension-sprayed
silver and silver/graphite coatings are presented in
this article
