In 2010, the “Long Products” division
of the SMS group GmbH, headquartered
in Düsseldorf/Germany, pushed ahead
with the development of its own fully digital
power source which was used for welding
applications for the first time in 2012.
This inverter technology formed the basis
for new developments in the field of thermal
spraying. Fully parameterisable power
sources with high regulating accuracy are
available, in particular, for arc wire spraying,
atmospheric plasma spraying and
arc-based lining processes. In conjunction
with new torch systems, this makes it
possible to modify or refine metallic and
non-metallic surfaces.
