Modern seamless gas shielded flux cored arc welding (GSFCAW) & gas shielded metal cored arc welding (GSMCAW) wires for high productivity
The use of GSFCAW (gas shielded flux
cored arc welding) wires is by no means
new, the first wires arrived onto the fabrication
scene in the 1950’s, but the real breakthrough
in the design away from this original
folded wire type took place in 1964. The production
of the folded wire type starts with a
flat sheet of steel which is rolled into a U
shape and the flux powder added. This is
then finally rolled into full circle and lapped
over, Fig. 1.1.
