70th IIW Annual Assembly held in Shanghai in June 2017
Keen participation by large numbers of
local engineers, researchers and students
epitomised the 70th International Institute
of Welding (IIW) Annual Assembly and International
Conference and was the foundation
of its success in terms of both numbers
of attendees and opportunities for technology
diffusion. The events were held in Shanghai,
China on 25 to 30 June 2017, well organised
and hosted by the Chinese Welding Society
(CWS). With a population of over 24
million, Shanghai is regarded as the ‘showpiece’
of the booming economy of mainland
China – a fitting environment for this gathering
of international experts in all aspects
of welding technology and innovation – from
automation to micro-joining.
